Obituary of Tim Butler

Timothy B. Butler, 56 of Eugene, Oregon, passed away on October 9, 2023.

Tim was born November 13, 1966 in Eugene, Oregon to James and Diane (Burns) Butler. He was the youngest of five children. On January 7, 1988, Tim married the love of his life, Courtney M. Gooding.

Tim met his wife at Furr’s Cafeteria in Colorado Springs, Colorado and moved with her to Fort Collins, Colorado in Fall 1987. In 1999, they built their home in Wellington where they lived with their many four-legged, furry children. Tim worked in the food service industry for most of his life, but for the last year, was part of the custodial staff at Colorado State University where he was working towards a supervisory role.

While Tim and Courtney did not have any children, they gave a home to many cats and dogs over the years. Tim had a special place in his heart for German Shepherds. Tim loved to play poker, especially Texas Hold‘ Em either in person or on-line and was an avid fantasy football player. He was a die-hard Denver Bronco fan his entire life, but when the Colorado Avalanche moved to Colorado, that became his favorite team of all time and he loved watching every single game several times!

Tim is survived by his wife of 35 years, Courtney Gooding Butler, their current group of fur-babies (Abby, Ranger, Radar, Hawkeye, PJ, Ziva and Ellie), his sister, Kelli Freeman, brothers James and Jeffrey Butler, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Peggy Pratt.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. Tim was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 15 so, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in his honor.
