Obituary of Joe Rael

Joe Arnold Rael “El Joe”, 71, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at North Colorado Medical Center.  He was born on April 27, 1952, to Belarmino Vialpando Rael and Bertha Gonzales in San Luis, Colorado.

He lived in Severance, Colorado on the farm most of his life, until recently, he lived in Greeley when his sister Louise and Brother-in-law Abel took him in their care.

During his life he worked at Mountain View Lamb Feeders for about 35 years.  Lind Farms Inc. and Monfort Lamb for 5 years each.  He did labor work as a foreman/farm laborer/lamb feeder for 46 years.  He worked other jobs with pope testing, janitorial, housekeeping, stocking, dishwashing, and packaging.  A loyal hardworking man willing to learn and do anything to stay busy.  He was loving and giving.  He loved playing his guitar & harmonica while blasting his music to cumbias in his home with a bottle of whiskey.  He loved all his pets as if they were his children.  He would talk to his “hito” Scooter (dog) like his own kid.  He told stories about his life and crazy adventures, they sounded interesting.  He liked the Detroit Lions, Fishing, taking walks and joking around with his family.  He enjoyed being a clown and being silly.  He loved watching YouTube videos about war, NASA airplanes and politics.

He will be greatly missed by all his loved ones, he loved everyone deeply, he would help everyone as much as he could. Stranger or not.  He will be remembered as a humble gentle soul.

Joe is survived by his sisters; Louise (Able) Salazar, Wilma and Margaret Rael, Lucy (Jim) Casares, and Mary (Porfirio) Garcia, brothers; Augustine Rael, Joseph (Christine) Rael, and Cloyd (Jackie) Rael and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, three Aunts, Two Uncles and a nephew, and his cat “Mama Cat.”

Family will have a private viewing and a private Celebration of Life.
