Obituary of Terry Jay Oesch
Terry Jay Oesch
Terry Jay Oesch, 75, passed away from natural causes during a nap in his home in Kiowa, Colorado, on
or just before June 11, 2023.
Terry was born on January 31, 1948, in a hospital across the street from the Alamo in San Antonio,
Texas. He was born to Air Force mathematician and private pilot Ray W. Oesch and Powder Puff Derby
pilot Janie Wright Oesch.
As the son of an airman, Terry, along with his older sister Bonnie and their parents, traveled the world.
One notable place he lived was in Morocco, Africa.
As an adult, Terry served in the United States Army. After honorable discharge, he attended college at
Colorado University and earned bachelor’s degrees in both aerospace engineering and business.
After college, while working at Beechcraft in Wichita, Kansas, Terry met Jeanne who later became his
wife. Together, they raised their children.
During his career as an aerospace engineer, Terry worked for NASA and for Martin Marietta (later
Lockheed Martin). He developed missile systems, designed various parts for aircraft and spacecraft,
received several awards, and invented a part that was patented in 2005.
In the 90s, Terry volunteered as a shooting sports coach in 4-H. Marksmanship was how he and his
younger daughter bonded.
In his 60's, Terry retired early and was soon blessed with four incredible grandchildren whom he loved
and enjoyed it very much.
Terry is preceded in death by a son, his parents, a miscarried grandchild, and his wife. He is survived
by his sister, two daughters, one son, one son-in-law, one daughter-in-law, and four grandchildren.
Terry has been cremated and will be buried along with his wife's ashes at his son Terry Thomas's grave
