Obituary of Donald Eugene Karg

Donald Eugene Karg, 79, of LaSalle, Colorado entered eternal life on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family.  A celebration of life with be held at Sherwood Park Baptist Church, 3333 W 16th St., Greeley, CO on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Steven Leisher officiating. 

 

Don was born September 9, 1943, in Sterling, Colorado to Sam and Mabel (Schaffer) Karg.  Don was a third-generation farmer and livestock producer. Active in 4-H and FFA growing up showing sheep and cattle at the county fair, then guiding his children through the process. A graduate of Iliff High School in 1961 he received his associate degree from Northeastern Junior College, where he participated on the Livestock Judging team.  

 

Don married Ramona Hebbert on September 20, 1964, from this union came three children: Kevin Scott, Tracy Dawn and Sammie Lynn. He enjoyed watching his children’s sport activities and was always the first to give his post-game review at the dinner table following each game.

 

Don was a faithful steward of the land and livestock God gave him to care for.  His love for agriculture continued with his garden. Wedded to Judy (Grauberger) Karg June 6, 2003, they made their home in LaSalle, CO. Known for his faith, humor, hard work and honesty his quirky language skills required a "Karg" dictionary for special words and unique phrases. 

 

Don was an active member of Sherwood Park Baptist Church in Greeley, CO.  His personal relationship with Jesus grew as he participated in men’s club.  He served on the church board of Trustee’s. Every year, Don and Judy shared their passion for gardening as they helped cultivate beautiful landscaping for the church yard and provide seedlings to friends and family.      

 

 Don is survived by his wife Judy of LaSalle, CO.  His son Kevin (Yvette) Karg of Sterling, CO; daughters Tracy (Jim) Yahn of Sterling, CO and Sammie (Donn) Nolin of Yuma, CO; stepdaughter Amanda Schaal of LaSalle, CO; sister Ruth Joan Stoddard of Issaquah, WA. Grandchildren: Jordan Karg, Karah Quint, Delaney Karg, Khloe Karg, Hannah Hager, Austin Yahn, Ryan Nolin, Reagan Nolin, Hunter Gresham and Olivia Gresham; great-grandson, Knox Hager.  Don was greeted in heaven by his parents, stepson Doug Shear, and grandson Joshua Karg-Lawson.

 

Memorial donations may be made to Sherwood Park Baptist Church Landscaping Fund.

 

Inurnment will be in Sterling at a later date.
