Obituary of Helen Ruth Magill

Helen Ruth Magill

Helen Ruth Magill, 96, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2023 at home with her family.

She was born to parents Oscar Wilbert Lewis of Glenwood Springs, Co and Gladys Evelyn Forkes, of Kent England on August 5, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the youngest of four children and they were orphaned at a very young age when their mother passed away and their father was taken seriously ill.

She attended Bell High School in Bell California but she had to leave in her sophomore year to become one of the women helping with the war effort as a "Rosie the Riveter''.  Life was not easy in those years and she became very resilient and a survivor. She and her sister even traveled to Northern California to be welders on the Shasta Dam project.
Helen met Robert Grant Magill in 1955. They were married on May 9, 1956 in Yuma, Arizona. Together they raised one daughter, Randi Denice McIntyre. Robert worked in the aerospace Industry and was involved with the Apollo project.
Helen was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was completely dedicated to her family. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for them. She was very active with the United Federation of Doll Clubs for most of her life. She was extremely talented at doll restoration and her collection of exquisite dolls from the turn of the century will be treasured by her family. There wasn't anything she couldn't do once she set her mind to it. She was a seamstress, an artist, a gourmet cook, and she was the general contractor and oversaw the building of three homes. She enjoyed camping trips, riding motorcycles and driving dune buggies in the desert. Helen loved gardening and had a "green thumb".  She loved many pets over her long life, raising and showing Collie dogs and had a whole litter of TeaCup Yorkies that she couldn't part with.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Randi, her granddaughters, Haven Flanagan, Sierra Hopp and Summer Ehmann, her great grandchildren, Kayla, Camden and Christian Hopp, Braylee Ehmann, her nephew, Alan Edmon and her cousin Claudia Walker. She will be missed by all those that knew and loved her, especially her dear friends, Drs. Sk and Indra Uppal.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Gladys, her husband of 49 years, Robert, her brother, Jack, her sisters Virginia and Beverly and her great grandson, Brentley.
The family has entrusted Northern Colorado Crematory with the arrangements.  As per her wishes, no service will be held and her ashes will be spread in Sedona to be with her late husband Robert at a later date.
