Obituary of Dexter David Halligan

Dexter D. Halligan was born on September 8, 1944 to Eugene and Mary (Spreckels) in Bassett, Nebraska.  He was the youngest in a family of seven children.  Dexter grew up in Newport and Bassett, Nebraska and attended elementary and high school there.  He enjoyed playing sports and lettered in track and basketball.  After working for a few years, he attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where he graduated with a B.S. degree in Computer Science.

He lived in Portland, Oregon for several years where he was employed as a systems analyst for Tektronix. He also worked for the State of Oregon and Department of Environmental Quality. 

He and his wife Shirley moved to Colorado twenty years ago.  Dexter became a real estate agent for Berkshire Hathaway Home Services and later for Re Max Alliance in Greeley.  Dexter enjoyed working with people.  He volunteered to help with home projects for neighbors and anyone who needed help with a project.

Dexter is survived by his wife Shirley Quinn, his son Michael Halligan (Shawnee) of Tualatin, Oregon, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, his sister Jean Von Heeder of Nebraska, his brother Dewey Halligan in California and one brother Douglas Halligan in Ord, Nebraska. Also surviving him are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
