Kathleen Neb

Obituary of Kathleen Rae Neb

Kathleen Rae (Preisendorf) Neb

Kathy Neb passed away unexpectedly from a brief illness on December 26, 2022 at Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado.

Kathy was born November 7, 1945 in Fort Morgan, Colorado to Rinehart and Rachel (Koch) Preisendorf. She attended school in Fort Morgan and graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1963. While in school she enjoyed both watching and participating in many school sports. She was a member of GAA (Girls Athletic Association) and was also a cheerleader.  Kathy was also a strong academic student and was inducted into the National Honor Society her senior year.

After graduation Kathy moved to Greeley, Colorado where she worked for State Farm Insurance.  She later returned to Fort Morgan and worked for Berryhill Insurance. In 1965 she married her life partner, Dan Neb and moved to a farm south of Fort Morgan where she filled her life with farm work and raising their three children.

Once the children were in college, Kathy returned to work at Ruth Hume Physical Therapy.  She was a therapy assistant until 1991 when she and Dan took over the operations for Lackey Distributing, which later became Hill Petroleum. She remained the office manager at that location until her retirement at which point she became what she loved the most, a fulltime grandmother.

Kathy’s love for sports always remained. She never missed a Denver Bronco football game and she herself remained an avid bowler for many years. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities, many of those being sporting contests. She and Dan were also active explorers in their all-terrain vehicle. They spent many weeks with family and friends in the high country traveling over extreme mountain passes in Colorado and beyond.

Kathy was proceeded in death by her parents, Rinehart and Rachel Preisendorf; her brothers Marvin, Ronny, Roger, and Bob Preisendorf, and her two sisters Patricia Lee and Nancy Green. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dan Neb; her daughter, Paula Hough and husband Mark and their children Forrest, Harrison, and Abbey; her daughter Jodi Garver and husband Russ and their children Nick (wife Melanie Buckles), Isabelle (husband Ben Mickey), Grayson, and Aiden; and her son Chad and wife Amy and their daughter Charlee.

Kathy will always be remembered for her spunky personality and her outgoing nature. She will be laid to rest in Memory Gardens in a private ceremony with her family. A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held this spring for her extended family and friends to attend. Kathy was a strong contributor to the American Cancer Society as her parents were both taken early in life from cancer. Please feel free to donate to that cause in remembrance of Kathy and her family.
