Judith Meyer

Obituary of Judith Angell Meyer

Judith Angell Meyer, 80, passed away on July 27, 2022 of natural causes at Meadowview of Greeley.

Born August 7, 1941 to Lloyd and Norma Morris in Des Moines, Iowa.  Judy learned her love of the outdoors from her father and would rather traipse through the woods than do the things she thought of as "girlie".  She attended high school at Topeka High and went on to get her first job with Hallmark cards where she learned to really see the colors around her.

Judy married Hans G F Meyer in 1961, started a family and worked in the family bakery. When her children were old enough she went into painting full time.  She became an internationally known western/wildlife artist who was regularly featured in magazines and calendars.  UNC awarded her an associates degree based on her life's work and she went on to earn her Bachelors in fine arts.

Judy is predeceased by her parents, Lloyd and Norma Morris, her younger sister Diane Harkness, brother-in-law Tom Harkness and her husband Hans Meyer.  She is survived by her children, Trudy Rider (James Rider), April Koenig (Curt Koenig), Hans Meyer (Sarah Riedel), Fritz Meyer (Sherry Bennett), 6 grand children and 17 great grandchildren.

Judy loved the natural world and excelled at putting what she saw onto paper in her art and her poetry. She cherished her solitude but made life long friends along her journey.  In her later years she loved teaching art at the Senior Center and simply spending time on her beloved porch.

Memorial Celebration will be held at Fort Meyer from 1-6 PM.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado.
