Juanita Steinke (Nita) passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 18, 2022.  Juanita was born August 25, 1933 in Akron, Colorado to Bert and Mary (Grooms) York.  She attended school in Akron, graduating from Akron High School in 1950.  After graduation, she was employed by the government from 1951 to 1959.

She was married to Len Steinke on April 12, 1958 and they made their home in Denver and Manitou Springs before settling in Fort Morgan in 1971.  They raised two children, Terri and Mitch.  They purchased Village Liquor Store and Morgan Travel in Fort Morgan.  They added First Choice Travel in Sterling in 1989.  They ran these businesses until their retirement in 2001.  They sold their home of 50 plus years in June of 2020 and moved to Greeley.

Nita loved to travel, especially with her two cohorts in crime, Doris Duncan and Nadene Farris.  Owning a travel agency, allowed her to travel frequently.  She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren who were the light of her life.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Len Steinke, her children Terri Schafer (Dave) and Mitch Steinke, her grandchildren, Tyler Schafer (Chelsea Hollabaugh), Tanner Schafer (Destini), Jordan Steinke (Mike Jones), Zach Steinke (Maddie Hogan), Jenn Lunt (Matt), Renee Kleensang (Russ), great grandchildren, Brantley Jay Hegwood, Remi Kay Schafer, Paisley and Kinsley Lunt, Parker and Paxton Kleensang and Finley Michael Schafer (who should make his arrival any day).
