Obituary of Jewell Dale Bock

Jewell Dale “JD” Bock was born October 16^th, 1929, in Monegaw Township, St. Clair County, Missouri, near Appleton City to Louis Fedrick Bock and Clara May Bock nee Shoop. JD was the seventh of nine children. JD attended Wichita College in Wichita, Kansas before transferring to The University of Missouri where he graduated with an engineering degree.

                JD was teaching surveying in the Army when he met Henrietta Ruth Oltmanns. They were married on August 28^th, 1954, in Baltimore, Maryland and they had one child, Benita, a daughter. JD went on to be a city engineer, Geary County engineer and the owner of two asphalt companies in Junction City, Kansas and later in Manhattan, Kansas. Both named Bock Asphalt.

                JD was a devoted father, husband and an avid golfer. He loved baseball and followed the St. Louis Cardinals his entire life. JD was a problem-solver who could come up with solutions to any problem or project at work and at home. JD passed away on June 17^th, 2022, in Greeley, Colorado at the age of 92. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones.

                JD is survived by his wife, Henrietta Bock; his sister Jane McNabb of Butler, Missouri; his daughter Benita Bock of Greeley, Colorado; his grandchildren Risa (Kelly) Overmiller of Smith Center, Kansas, Renata Rumold of Greeley, Colorado and Kurt (Lindsey) Rumold of Lubbock, Texas; four great-grandchildren Reid and Krisa Overmiller of Smith Center, Kansas and Breck and Aspen Rumold of Lubbock, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

                JD was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Clara Bock; his brothers Olin Bock, Melvin Leroy Bock and Fredolin Bock; his sisters Opal Smith, Allyne Schultz, Ila Wiser and Gwendolyn Bock; his brothers and sisters in-law Lloyd Smith, Fred Schultz, Phyllis Martin Bock, Betty Fennewald Bock, and Hendrix “Mac” McNabb.
