Obituary of Sandra Jean Mye

Sandra Jean (Montez) Mye, 60, of Erie, passed away on Friday February 4th in her home surrounded by her husband Joel and her two kids, Shiree Coffman and Steven Mye. 

Sandy was born in Boulder on July 30th 1961 to Frank and Isabel Montez and she grew up in Lafayette where she attended Centaurus High School and graduated in 1979. She met her husband Joel before graduating and they went on to marry, they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in May of 2021. 

Sandy was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana. She had a fun loving personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went and her laugh was unforgettable. She spent the last 15 years loving and spoiling her grandson, Jesse Jr. She enjoyed spending time with her husband going on trips when they were younger, dates at Red Lobster and walks through the neighborhood with her chihuahuas Miguel and Sophie. Joel was her true soulmate and she loved him dearly. 

She was met in heaven by her father Frank Montez and her sister Lori Montez. She is survived by her immediate family and son-in-law Jesse Coffman, her mother Isabel (Chavez) Montez, her sister Cindy (Chavez) Varela, and many extended family and friends. 

She had an amazing life and although it was shortened, she always lived life to the fullest and had a smile on her face. She was so strong and brave. She will be missed by so many.

Services will be on Thursday February 24th at 11am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lafayette, 715 Cabrini Dr, with a reception to follow for everyone who would like to gather and celebrate her life. We also ask that you wear her favorite color, purple, if you would like.
