Obituary of Sharon Annette Smith

Sharon Annette Smith was born in Long Beach, California, to John R. Keyser of Greeley and Lorraine Keyser Moore. Most of her school years were spent in the Greeley area and at Colorado State University where she earned an AA degree in Business Administration. During that time, Sharon was active in National Forensics, International Relations, Business Leaders of Tomorrow, dance and gymnastics, Girl Scouts, Order of the Rainbow, and National Honor Society. She was also a Colorado All- State musician, a longtime cheerleader, and the recipient of numerous academic awards. Later, she was president of the U.S. Army Cadet Wives Club at Fort Gordon, chairwoman for the Augusta Special International Burn Center volunteers, an officer of the Board of Directors for Assistance League of Greeley, Campfire Girls troop leader, officer and volunteer for School District 6 parent councils, a member of the Greeley Art Association, and a charter member in founding the Greeley Arts Picnic. She also served on the board of directors for Northern Colorado Executive Women International for many years and served as its president. She was certified by the American Institute of Banking and a former artist. Sharon worked nearly 30 years in management and as an award-winning creative writer/editor/publisher at two international corporations, retiring in 2012. Interested in genealogy, Sharon was proud to be a direct descendant of the original Mayflower passengers who landed at Plymouth Rock and settled Plymouth, Massachusetts. Although well- traveled domestically and internationally, she never fulfilled a desire to visit the original settlement. However, she pursued other personal interests through active years that included playing tennis and bridge, fishing and camping, music, art and literature, auto racing, gambling, movies, sports, and politics. Most of all, she loved her time with family and friends. Survivors are daughter and son-in-law Shauna and Clayton Troxell of Fort Collins, granddaughter Isabel Troxell of Fort Collins, and brother and sister-in-law Brad Keyser and Micki Larson of Lafayette.
