Obituary of George "Jeep" Paul Kurtz

JEEP KURTZ

June 19, 1968 - January 12, 2022

Jeep Kurtz, age 53, passed away suddenly January 12, 2022 at his home in Johnstown.

Jeep was born June 19, 1968 in Denver Colorado to Judy and George Kurtz, Sr. He attended Westminster High School and graduated in 1986 and then attended Colorado University. Jeep married the love of his life and best friend, Cynthia McGrath , on Aug. 23, 1997 at the Greeley Wesleyan (Generations) Church. Jeep also leaves behind his three wonderful sons: Corbett, Trevor and Hayden.

Jeep was a very successful Manager and Area Director for Albertson’s Grocery store in Colorado and Nebraska, but was quickly seen as an invaluable leader and was offered the position as Regional Manager for all of Florida. Jeep went on to become the District Manager for Extreme INC. and Massey Services after Albertson’s closed their chains nationwide. Following the loss of his parents, Jeep and the family returned to Colorado where he managed Clayton Homes in Denver for several years.

In 2011, Jeep followed in his Father’s footsteps in sales and began his extremely successful Real Estate Career with RE/MAX. Jeep was honored with the 100% Club Award in 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2020; the Executive Club in 2015 and 2017; Platinum Club Award and America’s Best Nation's Top Individual Producer in 2021. Jeep was recently honored with RE/MAX’s prestigious Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award in only 7 years. This award not only honors those at a Commission level as well as honoring his professionalism, diligence, and dedication to his Clients.

Jeep took his passion for his clients to the next level by continuing his education and earning many designations. Jeep's strong ties to the community and love for Greeley made him very active in the G-Hope Program and you could see him at many events throughout the city, especially sponsoring the Summer Concert Series.

Jeep was a wonderful caring dad, inspiration, biggest fan, protector and best friend who took the time to teach his sons so much about life. Jeep’s passion for cars was passed to his sons and quickly became a family past-time. Jeep was known to be able to fix anything. He was an amazing role model, mentor, and friend. Jeep had a way of making everyone he came in contact with feel like they were the most important person in the room. He never met a stranger, was always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Jeep was known for his kind heart, witty sense of humor, boisterous laugh, and strong Christian faith.

When Jeep wasn’t selling homes or helping Clients, you could find him traveling with Cyndi, fixing a car with his boys, fishing, cuddling with the dogs, hunting, boating, attending car and gun shows, listening to Dwight Yoakum songs, or trying a new recipe from Sam the Cooking Guy.

Jeep is preceded in death by his mother, Judy; father, George Kurtz Sr.; grandmothers and grandfathers. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia, sons Corbett, Trevor and Hayden, Brother Kevin (Kristi) Kurtz, Father and mother-in-law John and JoAnn McGrath, Grandmother Esther Specht, sisters and brothers-in-laws: John Robert (Lisa Johnson) McGrath, Jessie McGrath, Jim McGrath, Chris (Brittany) McGrath, Mary (Jared) Bengford, and Jennifer (Ethan) Borg, cousins, uncles, aunts and many nieces and nephews.

Stories Shared:

How do you measure a man? Do you measure him by the amount of money he makes? Do you measure him by the success they had, the home they built, the family they raised, their beliefs, their good, their bad, their ugly?

I can tell you that there is no measuring stick long, nor cup deep enough, to measure the man that Jeep Kurtz was. I was blessed to call Jeep my friend, my mentor, and a father figure. I am so grateful for the hours, days, and years of conversations we had. I don't think we went a day without talking on the phone or texting, and I never left any of those conversations without a smile, a belly laugh, or a little extra knowledge.

The world lost one of the most humble, caring, kind, funny, sweet, genuine, loveable humans today. The world got a little dimmer, so I ask that we all be a little brighter, and play a little Dwight Yoakum for my dear friend.

Jeep was the most genuine, kind, and caring person I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. He always took a genuine interest in the people he interacted with, and he never failed to make people smile. He was always armed with a "dad joke” and I will never forget how authentically he used to ask me, "How are you?” He was a big-hearted person who really cared about his fellow humans, and he will not be forgotten.

I’m going to miss getting his random silly texts and messages late at night. He was always quick to help with anything. I am going to miss how he always gave great advice, but it always had something to do with running a grocery store.

Jeep was a great man.

Jeep was a hell of a guy. Nobody like him in the world. It’s always the good ones, he was the most genuine and original men ever.

He was always there to help me with his endless knowledge.

Jeep bent over backwards to help us. I’m so grateful for his continued determination.

Jeep was amazing and he worked so hard for our family and genuinely cared about us and our needs.

Jeep always showed compassion and concern. He was quick to find solutions to any problem.

Jeep never cared about "the money”, he always cared about his clients.

Jeep was a great guy.

Jeep was really considerate, easy to talk to, and understood your feelings and exactly what you needed.

Jeep was the person you’d be glad to have sold your home. He was gracious, had integrity, and was always there no matter how trivial it seemed.

He saw the silver lining in every situation and kept me going when it got rough.

He was such a hard worker, great at his job, and a great friend.
