Obituary of Kelvin Kirkpatrick

Kelvin Douglas Kirkpatrick- September 3, 1954- January 12, 2022 Kelvin Douglas Kirkpatrick passed away at home on January 12, 2022. He was born to Orville Kenneth and Lavonne (Hyle) Kirkpatrick on September 3, 1954 in Dodge City, Kansas. At a young age, Kelvin's family moved from the family farm in Bucklin, Kansas to Wray, Colorado. They then moved to Fort Collins where he graduated from Fort Collins high school. He attended CSU and graduated with a degree in Farm and Ranch management. During his college years, his love of agriculture led him to participate in the wheat harvest with John Nelson's harvest crew. After college, he worked at Agland for many years, starting off in construction and then in the Feed mill as a feed truck driver and later as a dispatcher. He then went to work for Lafarge, which later became Martin Marietta, as a concrete truck driver until his retirement in 2021. In 2002, Kelvin married Celia Pettit at Fort Laramie, Wyoming. They started their lives together in Fort Collins, Colorado. They then built a new home east of Pierce, Colorado in 2011 where they made their little piece of paradise. Kelvin loved to be in the outdoors participating in snow skiing, windsurfing, biking, golfing, hiking and camping. After marrying Celia, he continued to enjoy the outdoors with her and the grandkids. Kelvin and Celia loved to support their grandkids and all of their various activities. Kelvin and Celia liked to travel when they could, going to Bucklin, Kansas to visit the family farm every year, and to California to keep up with the grandkids. They shared many bike rides, hikes, walks, ice cream nights, and working together on their acreage. Family and friends would describe Kelvin as inviting but quiet, humorous yet comforting, active but gentle, diligent yet patient, easy to talk as well as quick to listen, humble but courageous, always available, and above all, always kind. Celia describes him as a kind, gentle soul. Kelvin is survived by his wife Celia, stepson Justus Pettit, his wife Debbie and their children Katie and Colton, stepdaughter Bryn Santistevan and her children Malaki and Anaya, his brother Arden Kirkpatrick (Martha), and Arden's two sons, Zeke (wife Christy and their children Jessica, Brooklyn, Allie, and Drew), and Tyler Kirkpatrick, his aunt Charlene Kirkpatrick, and cousins Lynelle Stimpert, Shannen Deweese, Nancy Penner, and Adrienne Hyle. In lieu of flowers, Kelvin requested any donations be made to Pathways Hospice, Northern Plains Library, or Weld Food Bank. He requested no services.
