Obituary of David Joe Ortega

David Joe "DJ” Ortega 51, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2021 at the Northern Colorado Medical Center. DJ was born on September 21, 1970 to Theodore "Ted” & Ruth (Ramos) Ortega in Greeley, CO. He grew up in Greeley most of his childhood until the passing of his mom, when he later moved to Denver with his dad. At the age of 18 he returned home to Greeley where he lived until he passed away. DJ found his way back to his faith and love for God. He spoke and walked with true faith and love for the Lord. He will forever be remembered for his big-hearted smile, joking personality, his competitive streak, his love for the Denver Broncos, his love for his family and friends. Everyone knows DJ as a God fearing, hard-working man who built a successful painting business all on his own. He took pride in his children, family and his work. DJ was always the first one in our family to step up and organize a fundraiser to help family in need. He is survived by his children, Demitrius, Anthony, Leticia, D’Angelo, Alyssa, Daveion, Kaylahni, and Amaya Reign. His grandchildren Adrik, Aliana, and Grayson. His siblings, Trini Ramos, Anthony Ramos, Margie Ortega, Irene Davila & Pauline Mercado and numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends who all love him dearly. DJ was proceeded in death by his Mom, his Dad, Grandma Margaret Ramos, his nephews Adrian Ramos & Jose Aguero. His Uncles David Ramos, Moses Ramos, Trinidad Ramos, Ernie Cordova and his Aunt Cecelia Castro. His cousin Sylvia "Chiva” & Junior "Buggy” Gonzales. His Uncles Dave, Aaron and Danny Ortega and his Auntie Anna. Our family invites you to celebrate DJ’s life on December 27, 2021 at the Greeley Vineyard Church 1015 9th Ave. Greeley, CO. Private family viewing will be from 11am-12pm following a public viewing from 12pm-2pm.Celebration of live will start at 2:30pm with a dinner after the service.
