Obituary of Charles Beaman

Charles Jay Beaman was born on August 20, 1941 in Dixon, IL to Milton and Minnie (Means) Beaman. He passed from this world on November 22, 2021. He was the third child in a family of seven. Growing up near Fontanelle, Iowa. He worked on a dairy in High School. He hand milked cows before going to school. He graduated from Fontanelle High School in 1959. His parents picked up his diploma, as he was on a wheat harvest crew headed for Montana. His brother lived in Derby, CO, so Chuck decided to stay in CO. Eventually, his entire family settled in Commerce City, CO. Chuck met Gloria Edna Darbin during this time. They were married on November 26, 1961. Chuck started operating a trackhoe, when he was 18. He worked for various companies and in 1972 he started his own company, Chuck’s Excavating. He loved running a machine and was a master at it. Chuck and Gloria raised 3 children. Tamie born July 22, 1962; Kerri born September 17, 1963, and Scott born April 18, 1970. In the early years, the family lived in a trailer home. Following the work to all the small mountain towns, where Chuck helped put in water and sewer lines. When Scott was born, they decided to settle in the Colorado Springs area. During this time the family was involved with gymkhanas, quarter horse showing, Little Britches rodeos, and High School rodeos. In 1978 the family moved to Bennett, CO. Chuck built his business and the kids went to rodeos all summer. When Scott got older, they bought some bred Angus cows and began working on their Registered Angus herd. He and Gloria bought a ranch near Shamrock, CO. after Scott graduated from High School. They improved their registered Angus herd and fed them on a hay rack pulled by Belgian Horses. This began his love of Belgian horses. He and Scott bought many more Belgians and went to many horse pull events in CA, UT, ID, and CO. They sold the ranch and moved LaSalle, CO. They began putting up hay and building their Angus herd. Chuck retired from the union, hung up his harness and settled in on raising bulls and hay. Chuck was always a hard worker and provider for his family. Chuck was one of the most onery, fun loving, larger than life, John Wayne standards of a man. After battling health issues for the last few years, Heaven called Chuck home on November 22, 2021. Chuck is survived by his wife, Gloria, Daughters and son in laws Tamie (Stoney Zolman), Kerri (John Jolly) and son Scott and daughter in law (Wendy), 8 grandchildren, and 10 great-grand children. Chuck lived life to the fullest. He loved to work, he loved to win, he loved his family and friends. In the Spring, there will be a memorial.
